Monthly Membership Meetings - New Approach
In 2007 the Board of Directors decided to take a new approach to the monthly membership meetings. They requested members to volunteer to take responsibility for arranging one monthly meeting. And the response so far has been very promising.
This idea was proposed as a way to allow other members to share the workload. In the past, the responsibility has always fallen on the club President to arrange speakers and recruit volunteers for every meeting. If you have never served as President of the club, you may not realize the considerable time and effort it takes to organize all the monthly meetings, plus the quarterly Board Meetings, and the weekend events, not to mention all the interaction and business that takes place outside of club meetings. It does not seem right to place the entire burden on one person, as we all benefit from the club and enjoy the meetings and other events.
Many members are willing to volunteer for a few events, but they are unable to commit to every monthly meeting. The new approach allows another member to take responsibility for a specific meeting, freeing the President up to do some flying or other fun things. Now, isn't that the way it should be?
